Here, here! We all know you do not want to admit there is something wrong with you. Repressing them is a short cut that we all feel comfortable doing. It is something we learnt at a very young age.
In a world where the generally emotions are considered a weakness, and strength is mistaken for not feeling any or being affected by anything- it is at times difficult to put up a façade that we are fine even when we are not. So you don’t even realize, and you push it down, so far in your psyche!
That is not the best thing to do, as repressed feelings surface at one point or the other. Here we will explain ways that will help you resolve your unexpressed emotions.
Let’s get down to business, we all know how it is really easy to keep yourself distracted and busy dealing someone else’s emotions and problems to run away from your own. You think you are strong and have everything in control by helping others through things, whereas all you are doing is running away from the pending emotions that you have.
However, every now and then, you run into a situation or a person who triggers those unexpressed emotions and you suddenly find yourself in an unsettling place not being able to handle that. Therefore, you do what you do best, run away until you repress the shit out of it so later on it does not surface. Not wise at all.
You are constantly on the run, from one job to another. You are so busy managing multiple tasks in a day that your emotions find it very hard to catch up to you. The better way to do this is to become a low-key work-a-holic, that way you keep yourself busy also and have the time to process your emotions. These emotions don’t completely take over your life and ruin your career.
Just because you are not breaking down, or can’t get yourself off the floor does not mean that you are not fine. It means that you ignore the underlying anxiety and feeling empty inside.
If you don’t process like a normal person and ignore your problem at hand – it comes out in uglier ways. You know that friend who thinks they have a serious health condition every second day? Yup! That’s a clear cut sign of not being emotionally in touch with yourself.
You know the feeling when someone asks you how you are doing in the saddest manner or in a sympathetic way, yup we all hate it. You do not want to feel sorry for yourself or other people to do so. So you instantly answer them about how it was the greatest thing that happened to you, and you felt no remorse or hurt over it. You spin positive webs around that and make sure you don’t let them know that deep down inside its killing you.
You like to plan each moment of your life, be it present or future. You like to be in control, as that makes you feel comfortable in your own skin and you are not blind sighted by emotions. You simply cannot leave situations open-ended!
If you keep ending up dating the wrong people, you will risk a lot. It is as you are scared of getting emotionally attached to them. If you can avoid it with yourself, you can avoid it with other people also – that for you is a double win.
Just to make yourself seem even stronger, you joke about your problems and pain. It will make people think you are doing well. Just what you need, not let anyone know that you are breaking into pieces.
No one on this planet lacks emotions or does not experience them. Even psychopaths feel emotions, just not empathy for others. In other words, if you are pretending to heartless – that just means you are repressing your emotions, as it’s no one’s business.
