Depression is something which around 20% of adults experience at least at one stage in their life. It is so subtle that others around the one affected may not even perceive it. Although exercise is known for lifting up mood and bringing feel good factor but this kind of advice seems over simplistic and too general. You are expecting from a person who finds it near impossible to climb out of their bed each morning to find solace in a good hour or a half of jog and walk. It appears as though you as a listener do not want to dig deeper and find out more about the individual and just give advice for the sake of it.

There is a certain stigma associated with the medication for depression often times considered as an easy way out for onea��s problems. This perception need to be changed and just assume they are following their doctora��s advice. Besides you do not have even an iota of an idea what they are going through and giving this advice will further make you appear as someone who is disconnected or distant from their ordeal.

Often times we look for indicators of depression that are never accurate. A depressed person is not necessarily someone who would be sad and lonely all the time and showing it. They may be a completely different person when surrounded by others but will be falling apart on the inside. Never assume how other person is faring simply because of their outward appearance and worse still conclude that they are fine.
