Sometimes we are so besieged by our habits that we do not think in a rational manner. We let go of long term gains for short term pleasures since the reward is now. Similarly waking up in the morning could be much more productive if we avoid following habits completely which are often thought to be harmless but infact is counterproductive.
1. Not taking shower
We are required to be in high spirits and expected to think of solutions to the challenges at work and this is made much easier if we take a shower. According to experts a shower in the morning fire up our brains to think with more clarity and find solutions that much more easily. Shower helps us achieve laser focus and make us less distracted by unimportant things. It also aids in letting our creative side become more refined and we easily generate new ideas.
2. Taking hot shower
Majority of us do not like to step in a cold shower but the truth is that a hot shower not only makes your skin dry but also induces lethargy making you feel like climbing back into bed. On the other hand cold shower stimulates brain activity and makes your immune system work harder than before. Vasoconstriction of your blood vessels is also good for subtle healing of any pains you might have from your workouts earlier.
3. Taking your phone in the bathroom
These are a precious few minutes you have with your family before you go off to your work. Realize this that this time is not meant to be utilized looking at what others said on the social media or what is the latest news. It is a time to spend with your family before the work day commences. So instead of wasting time on your phone focus on your loved ones and spend time with them instead.
4. Taking too long on your outfit
Organize your wardrobe in such a manner that when you have to get ready for work in the morning you are not flustered by the choice of clothes you should or should not wear. Infact if possible designate a space in your wardrobe only for your work clothes so that getting ready in the morning is hassle free. Keep your wardrobe tidy by throwing out stuff you dona��t wear anymore or stuff that is out of season.
5. Eating cereal
Usually these cereals are high in sugar content and on average a 50 gram serving contains about 4 tablespoons of sugar. So much insulin in the bloodstream means you are soon going to have sugar high and when the effect wears off you will become irritated and lethargic. Nobody needs to be in such a state of mind so early in the morning.
It is better to eat something which has a mix of proteins and carbohydrates. For example even a pizza slice is better as it has the proteins which take longer to be broken down hence it gives energy for a longer period of time and also keep one satiated.
