We have all flipped through fashion magazines and sighed at the sight of those gorgeous models. We all know the type: slender, poised, oozing confident and looking like they own the world. The magic word behind getting the perfect photograph is confidence. When you are confident in the way you look and own your body you will truly shine. However, to help you along the way we have gathered some tips exclusively for our curvy readers who wish to look just as poised and confident as the models in magazine when they pose for pictures.
Illusion of slender arms
Most of us gain a lot of fat on our upper arms. For those girls who have muscle mass on their upper arms but want to look ‘slender’ in pictures this tip works the best: the illusion of slender arms. Don’t hold your arm against your body and don’t let it hang loosely in the front. Turn your side to the camera and hold your arm at an angle on your waist. The gap between the arm and the body will make it look much slender.
Position your feet at hip-wide
Instead of standing with legs closed together stand a bit more freely. Open your legs so that they are poised at hip-width which gives the appearance of slimmer legs and thighs.
Deal with that double chin
Regardless of how thin or heavy you are or your body type any girl can have a double chin. Instead of shying away from side poses learn to own that double chin. Double chins mostly show up when we aren’t aware of the right angles. Experiment with a friend and find out the angle which suits your face the most. Secondly, move your head so that it is in straighter position rather than tilting and place your tongue on your palate.
Thinner waist and bigger hips
We all envy models with their perfect slim waists and thicker booties. Nail that pose in pictures by slightly turning your body towards the camera, placing your hand on your waist and sticking out the tush very subtlety.
Lean towards the camera
Don’t lean back and away from the camera. It will make you look wider and squarish. Slightly lean towards the camera and tilt your head to the side.
Balance your weight
Standing with your side to the camera will do the exact opposite of making you look graceful. Always go for a half-turn pose, shift your weight to your back leg and stand on the toes on the leg on the front.
The photo from the back
If you are curvy chances are you have booty and a bust that’s the envy of many. Use these to your advantage. Pose from behind with your shoulders squared and the one towards the camera slightly leaned in. Push out the tush very slightly and keep your head slightly tilted at an angle.
Cross your legs
Cross your legs like you are about to take a step and then place on hand over your waist. This little trick will make your thighs look just the right amount of thick and the legs slender.
